Chapter One
Of God and Man

God maintains His point of view
While man’s is quite often new

Man

Yes, God had a plan
When he made man

But He did not share
The plan with his pair

He gave them freedom with one restriction
Their curiosity resulted in His interdiction

I told you “Don’t eat from that tree!”
You disobeyed and now you must flee!

The perfect life for you I proposed
But now my garden’s forever closed

When Lovers Are Apart

If we have occasion to be apart
I’ll keep you close to my heart

We’ll make a promise to look toward the skies
Viewing the same stars with love in our eyes

It will be as if we’re side by side
At the end of a horse-drawn ride

And we’ll say a small prayer each night
To keep us safe till we’re in each other’s sight

Ancestry

We are what is left of our ancestry
Genes were passed down to you and me

Whenever and wherever we started
From each and every dearly departed

The genes have passed
From the first to the last

And know, when we some day die
They’ll be passed to a gal or guy

Regardless what’s said by sages
This is truly the gift of the ages

Now and then

Now and then there comes a man
With a special quality.

It may or may not
Be based in reality.

As far as we know, genius or insanity,
May or may not be related to vanity.

However, as we have heard some report,
The distance between the two is quite short!
